ETROMAC Electro-magnetic treatment unit on cooling system is required to install and maintain in accordance with the factory instructions, over a certain period of time which normally takes about one to three months or may be longer, it varies according to proportion of scale hardness and its thickness, the treated water dissolves existing scale effectively cleaning heat exchange surfaces, spray heads, pipe lines, condenser tubes, trays, basins, etc. The formation of existing hard scale is converted to a soft sludge and sediment which is easily removed by practical maintenance bleed-off procedure.

On heavily scaled towers, usual basin bleed-off procedure during the initial stage of ETROMAC operation should frequently dispose of large quantity of muddy sludge, sediment and scale dissolved from heat exchange surfaces, tower walls, condensers, trays, pipe lines, etc. Until existing scale has been removed and the cooling system is operated at full BTU efficiency, the bleed-off procedure is reduced to the limit of removal of accumulated sludge and sediment from the bottom of the basin.
